The city of Snoqualmie will welcome Director Mun, Young Hoon of South Korea for his second visit to the Valley. Mun, the director of his country's Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs, will observe and study Snoqualmie planning and development practices as part of an 18-month work-study program.

Director Mun first visited Snoqualmie with a South Korean delegation of 11 mayors and several county executives and ministry directors in June 2007 as they toured several U.S. cities. Snoqualmie was of particular interest to them for its quality of life. Subsequently, the South Korean government requested to have Director Mun extensively observe Snoqualmie's planning process with regard to livability, infrastructure and design policies.

His wife and son will join him during his year-and-a-half stay.

"We are honored to have Director Mun and his family as new members of our community," wrote Snoqualmie Mayor Matt Larson in an invitation to a reception the city will host on April 14 to welcome Mun.

About 120 civic and community leaders and members of the media were invited to the reception at Salish Lodge.
