The city of North Bend plans to offer streaming video — and new promotional opportunities — on its Web site.

The city council voted to authorize the mayor to sign an agreement with CGI Communications, a company that produces promotional videos at no charge to cities. The videos, one-minute spots welcoming visitors and showing off North Bend highlights, would be posted on the site,ci.north-bend.wa.us, said City Administrator Duncan Wilson.

“Anytime we can enhance our visibility to the public, it’s a good thing,” Councilman Ross Loudenback said before the authorization was unanimously approved. He added that he had visited the Web sites of other cities that had contracted with CGI, and found the videos professional and tastefully produced. The contract between North Bend and CGI will be for three years.
