School supplies on Valley church, food bank wish lists

Local churches and the Snoqualmie Valley Food Bank are partnering again this year to distribute school supplies, backpacks and shoes to students in need, who will attend the Snoqualmie Valley School District this fall.

Families signed up for help at the food bank in July, and supplies will be distributed on Wednesdays, Aug. 20 and 27.

Churches are gathering donations now, and people can drop off their donations of backpacks and school supplies, at Mount Si LUtheran Church, 411 N.E. 8th St. North Bend, Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 39025 S.E. Alpha St., Snoqualmie, or the United Methodist Church, 38701 S.E. River St., Snoqualmie. New shoes for children ages 5 to 18 can be delivered to Snoqualmie Valley Alliance Church, 8020 Railroad Ave. S.E., Snoqualmie, and checks can be made out to "Mt. Si Lutheran School Backpack project," and mailed to Jane Benson, ℅ Mount Si Lutehran Church, P.O. Box 487, North Bend, WA 98045. Organizers ask that donations are made by Aug. 12.

Supplies that are needed this year include:

Backpacks for middle- and high-school-aged students

Loose-leaf paper, both wide- and college-ruled

Crayons in 16- or 24-count boxes

Pencil cases or pouches

Glue sticks

Rulers, 12 inches

Ticonderoga pencils


Colored pencils

Pens, black and blue

Spiral notebooks

Subject dividers

Youth scissors, medium

Folders and pocket folders


Three-ring binders, 2-inch
