Snoqualmie Tribe picks top officer

As the new police chief for the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe, Duane Garvais-Lawrence will build the Tribe’s police department from the ground up, starting with some lofty goals.

“We want to be a community-oriented police department,” focusing on “elders, youth and culture,” said Garvais.

In his first act as chief, Garvais set an ambitious plan for the department to pursue accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, or CALEA.
