Senior Center remembrance honors the late BJ Libby, former director, Thursday

The Mount Si Senior Center in North Bend will host a remembrance event, 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, for the center's former director BJ Libby. Libby, died Sept. 21. She had been the director of the center since November, 2011.

Libby died on Saturday, Sept. 21.

She was born in Limestone, Maine on February 29, 1948. Born on Leap Day, she only had an actual birthday every 4 years. Technically, she was only 16¼ years old when she passed. She grew up on a potato farm.

Libby started off her career working at Chapman College then later as assistant editor of a magazine. Following that she transitioned to working for the Girl Scouts of the USA.

She ended her career at the senior center.

Libby is survived by her daughter, Dakarie Johndro, son in law, Reid Geck,  grandsons Riley Geck, Kyler Geck and Brayden Geck, all of Snoqualmie, Washington. She is also survived by her sisters, Jeri (Peter) Beaulieu of Limestone, Maine; Joy (Ken) Gustin of Hermon, Maine; Kim (Paul) Clark of Audubon, New Jersey and brother Jeff Libby of Limestone, Maine.

She never wanted a funeral, but preferred a party to celebrate her life.
