North Bend crime prevention meeting tonight, focuses on illegal drugs

Learn more about illegal drug use and its effect on crime locally at the next community meeting on crime prevention, 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at the Mount Si Senior Center, 411 Main Ave. S. This month’s meeting, the third in a series launched by the city of North Bend to address citizens’ concerns about crime in the city, will focus on one of the top issues citizens have raised, illegal drugs.

The meeting will include a presentation covering the history and background of drug use, local law enforcement’s efforts and limitations in addressing the problems, deterrents, trends, and information on how to spot drug use among family and friends. There will also be an opportunity for community input, with a discussion of possible solutions and the things that community members can and can’t do to resolve issues.

This month’s topic may not be appropriate for young children.
