New Valley transit proposal up for discussion at meetings, starting Thursday

The Snoqualmie Valley is poised to become the first area in King County to see a package of redesigned transit services, which Metro says is aimed to meet the needs of locals.

Metro began working with Valley residents last fall to identify transportation options that are more cost effective and better meet the needs of residents and riders. The Snoqualmie Tribe has also been an important partner.

Now, proposed options will be discussed at two upcoming meetings:

• Thursday, February 7, 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Cherry Valley Elementary School, 26701 Cherry Valley Road, Duvall.

• Monday, Feb. 11, 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Fall City Elementary School, 33314 SE 42nd Street, Fall City.

Metro’s proposal includes adjustments that reflect residents' request to see all day service to Snoqualmie Ridge -- a growing residential and employment center.  Improved connections between Duvall and Redmond and a more reliable and better connected valley transit network were also priorities shared by stakeholders.

In addition to these service adjustments, the plan points to the role vanpools and vanshares can play in providing additional transit opportunities

The effort also looks at longer-term ideas that can be explored in future years to provide more integrated transit service to valley residents.

During the community meetings, Metro will provide an overview of the proposed service adjustments and answer questions.

The proposal will also be available beginning Feb. 7 on Metro’s Have-a-Say website. Residents can share feedback at http://metro.kingcounty.gov/have-a-say.
