Thanks to a refurbished and repaired all-weather United States flag donated by the Valley’s American Legion Post 79, a storm-damaged flag at the North Bend Fire Station was replaced on the morning of Monday, Nov. 19.

Any damaged and unserviceable flag may be turned in for proper retirement by using the red mailbox on the porch at American Legion Post 79 in Snoqualmie.

Flags with hems that are starting to fray may be legally repaired as long as the field with the stripes does not become shorter than the blue field with the stars.  Several such flags that were dropped off at the post have been repaired in this manner and donated to local residents who had unserviceable flags displayed.
