Early literacy parties in Spanish planned

Families with children, newborn to age five, are invited to attend Early Literacy Parties in Spanish, a series of weekly workshops that bring Spanish-speaking families together to learn and practice essential early literacy skills.

The workshops are put on at 6 p.m. Mondays, April 28, May 5, 12, 19, June 2 and 9, at the Riverview School District early childhood education program classroom, 32240 N.E. 50th Street, Carnation. Library puppets to put on a show

Dewey and Sketch, the official mascots of the King County Early Literacy family program, perform in their own puppet show, set for 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 29. The story follows the characters as they search for help getting ready to read. To find out more about the event, call the Snoqualmie library at (425) 888-1223.

Exchange students need host families

Host families are needed for foreign exchange students who will attend Mount Si High School in the coming school year: a girl from Brazil who enjoys volleyball, swimming and church activities; a boy from Taiwan who plays basketball, the flute and piano; a boy from Hong Kong who enjoys basketball and cooking.
