November 13, 2012 · 2:54 PM

In Operation Bald Eagle, a local charity group has been collecting items to send to U.S. troops in Afghanistan.

The group supports Mount Si High School graduate Austin Taylor, who is currently deployed to Afghanistan.

They plan a "pack-out event," to prepare care packages for soldiers, including Taylor and his U.S. Marine buddies.

The event is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Eastside Fire and Rescue Station in Sammamish, 1851 228th Ave. N.E.

Volunteers, including Austin Taylor's parents will be there to accept the packages, pack and prepare boxes and stuff stockings.
