Construction workers broke ground this week for a 13,152-square-foot expansion of the Mountain Valley retail center in North Bend.

The city of North Bend issued permits for the expansion April 2.

Construction of the new building, which abuts Schuck’s Auto Supply at the center, should take six months. The developer, Trace Development, LLC of Issaquah, has commitments for a new state liquor store, a tanning salon and a dental office, and has also been talking to restaurants as possible tenants.

This is just the first phase of a planned two-phase expansion at Mountain Valley. Trace is still going through the planning stages for phase two.
