Update: Body found in Carnation's Tolt-MacDonald Park is missing woman; Examiner investigating cause of death

A month-long search for a missing Carnation woman ended on May 24, when a body found in Tolt-MacDonald Park was identified as Lorene Bardy.

Her body was discovered by two hikers off the main trail in the King County Park, near water, according to King County Sheriff's spokesperson Cindi West.

West said there was no reason to believe Bardy's death was suspicious -- she'd been missing since April 26, and had a life-threatening medical condition that required medication -- but added that investigators were waiting for a ruling on cause of death from the medical examiner.

Although the medical examiner positively identified the victim as Bardy on Friday, May 25, no cause of death has been determined. The medical examiner's investigation may take up to 10 weeks to determine a cause of death.

Since Bardy's disappearance from her home in the 29200 block of Northeast 52nd Street, the sheriff's office had mounted several search and rescue missions in the area. West said, "We spent a lot of time looking for her."

The body was found in the area of Bardy's home, but at enough of a distance, considering her medical issues, to be a surprise to some searchers, West added.
