North Bend Curves joins cancer fight
Oct 02 2008, 6:21 PM As part of the world’s largest fitness franchise, Curves of North Bend announced that it is joining celebrity Olivia Newton-John in the fight against cancer.

Curves is a worldwide sponsor of the “Great Walk to Beijing 2008,” a fund-raiser that will benefit Newton-John’s Cancer Center Appeal, and has pledged a minimum $1 million donation to the event.

Curves of North Bend will participate in the fund-raiser with an April in-club promotion that will have members walking along as Newton-John, Curves founder Diane Heavin, and other celebrities, athletes, business leaders, corporate partners and cancer survivors trek 228 kilometers over some of the oldest and steepest portions of the Great Wall of China. The Great Walk to Beijing 2008 began April 7 and ends with a triumphal entry into Beijing on April 29.

The fifth of a series of public workshops for the Snoqualmie Downtown Master Plan is 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 9 at the Snoqualmie Tribe offices at 8130 Railroad Ave S.E., in the first-floor conference room.

All Snoqualmie residents and business owners are encouraged to participate. The Planning Commission, the Economic Development Commission, Beckwith Consulting Group, and many Snoqualmie city staff members will attend. A quorum of the city council may be in attendance and may engage in discussion.

Consignment shop re-opens with new name, more inventory
Onwer Tamara Phelps recently re-opened a Valley consignment business, now known as Two Timing Tams but formerly called The Lost Mitten, in a new location in North Bend. The business was formerly The Lost Mitten, a consignment shop exclusively for children. Inventory in the shop’s reincarnation includes apparel and accessories for newborns through teens, as well as home furnishings from Mignone Interiors in Snoqualmie. Shoppers will find all sorts of items including artwork, bedding, candles, jewelry, games and books.

Webber, Hauglie recognized for Farmers accomplishments
Hauglie Insurance and Financial Services Agency representative Elaine Webber, center, was recently recognized as Farmers’ Insurance top registered representative in the Northwest territory, which includes Washington, Oregon and Idaho. The award was presented by Craig Mills, at left, regional director of sales for Farmers Financial Solutions, LLC. Mills stated that with over 600 other registered representatives in this territory, Webber should be proud of her accomplishment. Agency owner Kevin Hauglie, at right, said that with Elaine’s strong results for 2007, combined with the insurance operation’s excellent results, his agency was the highest-producing agency overall in the state of Washington for 2007. With the Wildcats now at 2-3 in league, the win kept them in the hunt for postseason glory. It turned out be a much closer game than the team hoped for, but a win is still a win, and Mount Si may have discovered a youth movement in the process.
