Curves is a worldwide sponsor of the Great Walk to Beijing 2008, a fund-raiser that will benefit Newton-Johns Cancer Center Appeal, and has pledged a minimum $1 million donation to the event.
Curves of North Bend will participate in the fund-raiser with an April in-club promotion that will have members walking along as Newton-John, Curves founder Diane Heavin, and other celebrities, athletes, business leaders, corporate partners and cancer survivors trek 228 kilometers over some of the oldest and steepest portions of the Great Wall of China. The Great Walk to Beijing 2008 began April 7 and ends with a triumphal entry into Beijing on April 29.

Consignment shop re-opens with new name, more inventory

Two Timing Tams, a consignment shop for home furnishings and apparel for children and adults, opened in North Bend last month.The business was formerly The Lost Mitten, a consignment shop exclusively for children. Inventory in the shops reincarnation includes apparel and accessories for newborns through teens, as well as home furnishings from Mignone Interiors in Snoqualmie. Shoppers will find all sorts of items including artwork, bedding, candles, jewelry, games and books.

The home victory on Thursday, April 3, against Sammamish was a critical one for the Mount Si High School softball team. With the Wildcats now at 2-3 in league, the win kept them in the hunt for postseason glory. It turned out be a much closer game than the team hoped for, but a win is still a win, and Mount Si may have discovered a youth movement in the process.
