New life from dead wood
Aspiring North Bend photographer Terry Shields snapped this shot of a young tree atop a huge stump on Rattlesake Lake this past winter.  “The tree growing out of the stump represents new life after years of past harvesting,” said Shields, who works at the North Bend QFC and is also exploring the world of the image as an avid photographer. Those four little words are the paper mache’ shield being used by politicians from Seattle to Olympia to deflect the blame for the Seattle Sonics inevitable departure for Oklahoma City.

“I have been lied to. All of the people of the state of Washington have been lied to. I’m shocked and I’m very disappointed,” said Governor Christine Gregoire.
