Seattle’s Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) is known for providing hands-on vocational training in studio settings, taught by faculty that have worked in the gaming industry. They are specialist educators in games, animation, and film special effects. AIE’s focus and mission is to connect passionate students with the skills they need to be successful in their chosen careers. Alumni go on to work in a variety of creative industries and roles.

This January, students can begin 8-week courses in game design, game programming, and 3D animation. Each 8-week class is under $500.

In Introduction to 3D Animation, students learn to use Autodesk Maya and Adobe Photoshop while achieving a comprehensive understanding of the creative potential of 3D animation software used in games, film, and visual effects. The course also covers the fundamentals of 3D animation including modeling, texturing, animation, lighting, rendering, and environment design.

AIE is also offering Introduction to Game Design using the Unreal Engine for game development. Students learn how to define and develop game mechanics, develop game design documentation, rapid prototype gameplay, create interactive environments, and process feedback to refine game design.

In Introduction to Game Programming, students learn to create 3D games using the Unity 3D game engine and Visual Studio. They are introduced to industry standard tools and techniques for game development, design game mechanics to create gameplay, and also learn C# to script game interaction.
