National Dance Day, observed on Saturday, July 31, is a day for bringing youth and adults together in movement.
Dancers at Reach Eastside Performing Arts in Preston, and its "Reach For the Sky July" youth camp, will be participating. They will perform a hip hop dance created by choreographers from the show "So You Think You Can Dance," and will teach it to all who attend, with help from in-house hip hop star Ron Smith. No dance experience is necessary to join and all ages are welcome.
Festivities begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the studio, 30540 S.E. 84th St., Suite 1, next to Talking Rain. Reach Eastside is dedicated to promoting the performing arts in the area.
