Children love to participate in the Spring Fair in Puyallup, and the Creative Kids Exhibit is a great way for them to share their talents and creativity with the public.

Winning entries will be on display at the Spring Fair, April 18-21, 2013. Kids, ages 6-15 years can enter their work in one of two age divisions. Entries must be made online between Wed., Feb. 13 and Monday, April 8, and entries with entry summary delivered from noon to 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, April 11 and 12.

Each child who submits an entry or entries in this popular annual event will receive a free gate admission ticket to the Spring Fair at the time of entry submission.

The exhibit will be displayed in the Pavilion, a building that focuses on kids. It will also feature KidZone, an interactive area featuring a wide range of free and fun youth activities, plus free face painting. The Puyallup School District Science Fair “Explorations 2013” will be held on the second floor of the Pavilion. Other highlights of KidZone include a children’s planting activity with Master Gardeners, Lego Man, Let’s Pretend Circus, and more.

Creative Kids Exhibit categories include seven categories: art, baking & confections, creative writing, paper crafts and scrapbooking, photography, textiles, and an egg drop contest. Last year 1,205 entries were submitted.

The two age divisions are designed so that children can best exhibit their creativity and skill. They are 6 to 10 years, and 11 to 15 years. The two age divisions apply to all divisions in the Creative Kids Exhibit. Three types can enter:  Individuals, School Classes, and Quick Groups (i.e. 4-H, homeschool). Only one entry per class (e.g., one mixed media and one sculpture) will be accepted.

This year’s Creative Kids Fastest Fingers Knitting Contest is slated for Sunday, April 21 at 1 p.m. Entrants may sign up on April 11 or 12 if they are bringing in other entries, or by noon on Sunday, April 21. Contestants will cast on and knit for 15 minutes in the garter stitch (knit every row).

To obtain a Creative Kids Exhibit premium list outlining the specific rules, entrants may download the entry information online. Visit www.thefair.com, click on Spring Fair, Creative Kids, then the link, Download 2013 Entry Information.
