Get in shape for the holiday season and help local youth in the second annual Snoqualmie Ridge Turkey Trot.

The five-kilometer fun run and one-kilometer children’s run is 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at Cascade View Elementary School, 34816 S.E. Ridge Street, Snoqualmie.

With good weather, more than 600 runners are likely to take part.

The focus of the run is on families: the event is a fundraiser for parent-teacher associations at Snoqualmie Elementary and Cascade View.

All children’s race runners get a medal, and T-shirts are included for all participants who pre-register.

The children’s race starts at 9 a.m., with the 5K run starting at 9:15 a.m. The 5K winds through the streets and paved bike paths of beautiful Snoqualmie Ridge before finishing back at the school. The course has rolling hills.

All race entrants will receive a free pancake breakfast upon finishing the run. The breakfast and all pre- and post-race activities will take place in the warm, sheltered confines of Cascade View school just in case the weather turns unpleasant.
