Si View Park comp plan public meeting moved to Wednesday, Jan. 4

A second meeting on the Si View Metro Parks District comprehensive plan, planned for December, has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 4. Citizens are invited to Come to the Si View Community Center, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, learn about the process so far and share their ideas for the plan.

Si View Metro Parks is in the process of updating its Parks and Recreation Comprehensive Plan, originally adopted in 2006. The planning team is starting to wrap up work it started in April, including a community survey, stakeholder interviews, and an inventory of current parks and recreation facilities.

Public input gathered at the next meeting will play a critical role in developing the plan update. About two hours have been scheduled for

“The meeting with the board of commissioners is another opportunity for citizens to take part in the planning process and make sure their voice is heard,” said Travis Stombaugh, the district’s Executive Director. “Public input is essential in developing a plan that is a roadmap for providing high-quality, community-driven parks, trails, open space and recreation facilities throughout the upper Valley over the next 10 to 20 years.”

The updated plan will include a review of current conditions and recommend specific capital projects based on goals and priorities. Final review and adoption of the plan is tentatively scheduled for early 2017.

The meeting will be held in the Social Room at the community center. Hot cocoa and cookies will be served. Si View Community Center is located at 400 SE Orchard Drive in North Bend.
