Public invited to a community meeting Wednesday to add input to Si View Park District’s parks plan update

Si View Metro Parks is working on an update to its Parks and Recreation Comprehensive Plan, originally adopted in 2006, and invites residents to share their input at the next meeting of the board of commissioners. The board meets at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at the Si View Community Center, 400 S.E. Orchard Drive, North Bend. Hot cocoa and cookies will be served.

The two-hour meeting will give community members an opportunity to learn more about the planning process, review findings from the first meeting, and voice further ideas and opinions about the district’s parks and recreation system. This input will play a critical role in developing the plan update.

“Public input is essential in developing a plan that is a roadmap for providing high-quality, community-driven parks, trails, open space and recreation facilities throughout the upper Valley over the next 10-20 years,” said Travis Stombaugh, the District’s Executive Director.

This is the second of two public meetings held as part of the planning process.

The planning team’s work, begun in April, included a community survey, stakeholder interviews, and an inventory of current parks and recreation facilities. The survey summaries and published project documents are available online at https://mysidewalk.com/organizations/293128/si-view-metropolitan-parks-district-system-plan.

The updated plan will include a review of current conditions and recommend specific capital projects based on goals and priorities. These will be determined largely by public input. Final review and adoption of the plan is tentatively scheduled for January.
