Thursday, March 12, 1992

• On Monday, Ramona Esquerra was chosen from among five candidates to succeed Georgia Kramer as manager of Si View Pool in North Bend. Kramer is retiring after 30 years at Si View. She has managed the facility since 1975.

• The King County Police are looking for a man who robbed a North Bend convenience store at gunpoint during the early morning hours of March 4. Darlene Acosta, a clerk at the Paul Bunyan Market, 520 North Bend Way, was working behind the counter at the store shortly before 3:30 a.m. when a man walked up to the counter to pay for a candy bar. As she turned to retrieve change from a cash register, she could see that the man was pointing a black revolver at her. The holdup was the second in the town this year.

• Two construction workers were injured shortly after 8:30 a.m. last Thursday following the collapse of a roof truss system in Carnation. According to King County Fire District 10 officials, workers were placing trusses at the site of the new fire station when the accident occurred. At least 12 trusses fell to the floor, knocking one man from the scaffolding and causing serious injuries.

The Thomas Enlow family escaped without injury but lost all their possessions in a fire last Sunday morning which destroyed the home they were renting on the CCC Road about seven miles from North Bend. Mrs. John Patteson, neighbor of the Enlows, called the operator to report the fire but said the telephone service failed before she could complete her message. Her son Leslie then drove to the State Patrol office in North Bend to call the fire department.

• The North-East District Justice Court, which has been hearing cases at both North Bend and Bothell, will move to Redmond in the very near future, it was revealed this week. Although the lease agreement for space in the Redmond Center was accepted and executed last Monday, the Record learned that James Ewing, county property agent, received a letter last Monday from one of the partners in Redmond Center stating that the lessor wished to withdraw his offer.

• Carnation was drenched in sunshine last Sunday when more than 400 guests greeted Joe and Marie Van Horn at their golden wedding anniversary reception.
