Junior Girl Scouts earn Bronze Award with Big Cedar Trail improvements

The Girl Scout Juniors of Troop 43995 completed their Bronze award, the highest honor a Junior can earn, through a community project. Working with Dave Battey, who regularly guides walks to the Big Cedar tree on Meadowbrook Farm, they made and installed signs marking the Big Cedar Trail.

The Big Cedar is a 500 year-old tree, nearly 10 feet in diameter, growing on the Meadowbrook Farm Preserve.

To earn their award, the girls were required to spend a minimum of 20 hours on it. They planned the project, including the number and location of signs, made the signs, cleared the trail and installed the signs. ,
