Fall City and Snoqualmie recruits begin firefighter training at North Bend academy

State Fire Marshal Charles M. Duffy announced the start of a new firefighter training academy in North Bend this month.

On April 1, 19 firefighter recruits, including Dane Brookshear of the Fall City Fire Department, and Tanner Webb of the Snoqualmie Fire Department, started an 11-week Recruit Academy that meets National Fire Protection Association 1001 Standard for Firefighter Professional Qualifications at the Firefighter I &Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations Levels. The recruits will learn fire service principles through classroom instruction and rigorous hands-on live fire training.

The following fire departments and districts are represented in this Recruit Academy class:

Fall City Fire Department: Dane A. Brookshear;

Snoqualmie Fire Department: Tanner C. Webb;

Eastside Fire &Rescue: Heather K. Reed;

Central Mason Fire &EMS: Bjorn K. Van Dijk;

Electric City Fire Department: Joshua W. Reeder;

Washington State Fire Training Academy: Brandon C. Tochterman, Britton M. Kinder and Drew A. Nelson;

King County Fire District 20: Steven S. Andersen, Nguyen N. Le, Matt K. Renfro and Zahra A. Young;

King County International Airport: Ronald P. Darnall and Kevin E. Shoblom;

Snohomish County Fire District 5: Paul S. Ignaciao, Ryan J. Smith, Tyler S. D’Souza, Marks T. Bates, Adam S. Korby;

Woodinville Fire &Rescue: Jacob C. Krause;

Woodinville Fire &Rescue: Andrew M. deBoer.
