Eastside Firefighters’ benevolent fund to collect donations in three-day drive starting Friday

Starting the morning of Nov. 25, Eastside Firefighters’ Benevolent Fund members will be setting up for their 6th annual food and clothing drive, Nov. 25 to 27.

A 24-foot moving truck donated by First Due Movers will be located in the Issaquah Fred Meyer parking lot and to bring awareness and support for underprivileged families in the area, firefighter Scott Hammack and his daughter will be “living” atop the truck for the three days of the drive.

Eastside firefighters and their families will be collecting food and clothes throughout the drive in an attempt to “Fill the Truck” with donations to the Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank and the Snoqualmie Valley Food Bank.

In 2011, the Eastside Firefighters Benevolent Fund was established in an effort to provide relief to needy segments of society suffering from poverty, hunger, homelessness, and like calamity deserving of charity. Over the five years, over 100,000lbs of food and over 5,000 gifts have been collected in total for needy families in our community.

This three-day event is sponsored by Issaquah Fred Meyer and First Due Movers.
