American Legion Post 79 holds annual barbecue Sept. 14

Renton-Pickering American Legion Post 79 in Snoqualmie will be hosting its annual barbecue on Thursday, Sept. 14, starting at 6 p.m. at the Post in downtown Snoqualmie. All members past, present and future are invited.

At 7 p.m. there will be an installation of newly elected officers following the barbecue.

Renton-Pickering Post 79 of The American Legion is named after David Renton and Lester Pickering, two Snoqualmie Valley residents who were killed in World War I. Originally there were two posts chartered in 1919 in North Bend, and 1922 in Duvall respectively. These posts consolidated in 1925.

The current building has been used since the late 1920’s, and has been an active part of the community ever since.
