School district levy should be rejected until total tax rate drops to under $4 per thousand | Letter

If you live in the Snoqualmie Valley School District (SVSD), you likely received their propaganda for renewing two levies.

In fact, they even have the gall to show their levies as much lower than many other districts without showing the whole picture. The bottom line is the SVSD total tax rate is among the highest in King County. In 2017, the district’s total tax rate was $4.91 (per $1,000 of a property’s assessed value) compared to only $2.93 for Bellevue. A big chunk of this is the very high maintenance and operations levy rate imposed by the district.

I strongly suggest a “no” vote until the district gets their entire tax rate to a more reasonable level of $4 or less.
