Letter: Reader supports Trump, Reichert, on schools, immigration

I strongly disagree with the opinions written in the last two issues of letters to the editor in the Valley Record.

Trump is right in turning control of schools over to the states to dictate how they are to be run, for who knows better than we? Our public schools are letting our students down, not teaching them cursive, let alone good math, English and science. We, the people should have the right to choose where we want to send our children to school.

As for the letter on smoke and fire, anyone can make statements without proof and try to make you believe it is the truth. I support Rep. Reichert for not caving in to those who would like to throw mud without facts.

When it comes to immigration, anything illegal is a crime. Why should we as a country be giving welfare and medical aid to criminals, when we can’t afford to take care of those in this country legally and by birth? I do feel bad for them but they should not have come here in the first place, without doing so legally.

We must care for those in need to the best of our ability but with the economy the way it is, there are limited resources. Since Trump has been in office our economy is starting to take off. Once it has picked up, that is when we can afford to do more. We can’t expect the government to do everything for us.
