Letter: Hostile sign is embarrassment to the city and entire Valley

Although I have strong social and political beliefs, I have never tried to tell anyone how to vote. I will not start now. I feel compelled, however, to express my horror upon viewing the “DJT 2016…” (I won’t repeat the rest) sign next door to a business on the corner of Meadowbrook and Railroad Avenue in Snoqualmie.

I assume the sign is on private property, either individual or business-owned property. It is an embarrassment to our community; an embarrassment to the city of Snoqualmie and to the entire Snoqualmie Valley.

Do you really think a sign that celebrates a man endorsed by the KKK and neo-Nazis, while at the same time disparaging one of the most accomplished women in U.S. history, is welcoming to Snoqualmie visitors, families, and tourists?

No, it is not welcoming. Rather, it is hostile and hateful. And it is right down the street from our high school, as well as several professional offices. Why do you want to give people the impression that we are a community of ignorant angry red-necks? I am ashamed for all of us.

Please, Snoqualmie resident or business, take down that sign.
