Philia’s double: 'Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum' opens this weekend

In a preview of things to come, the courtesan Philia (Chelsea Henak) poses with her “double,” Hysterium (René Schuchter), above.

The comedic musical, “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” runs Thursdays through Saturdays, May 1 to 3, May 8 to 10 and May 15 to 17, starting at 7:30 p.m., plus a 2 p.m. matinee on May 10.

Ancient Rome meets vaudeville in this classic musical. Admission is $17 for adults and $14.50 for students and seniors. Tickets at www.valleycenterstage.org.
