Something for all ages: North Bend's Sallal Grange hosts November Contra Dance
November 14, 2012 · 12:35 PM
The Contra Dance Season continues at North Bend's Sallal Grange with the November Dance on Friday evening, Nov. 16.
The band Fresh Cider provides music, with Sherry Nevins as the caller. Doors open at 7 p.m., lesson starts at 7:30, and dancing is from 8 to 10 p.m. The Kitchen will be cooking up goodies.
All are welcome, of either gender and any age.The steps are taught before the dance, and the caller calls out the steps as the tune progresses. Sometimes the dancers get the steps right, sometimes they get them wrong, but they always are laughing and squealing.
Similar to square dancing, but more accessible, contra dancing is appropriate for the extended family and can easily shared between generations. Grandsons can delight that special grandmother by taking her dancing! Or delight that special girl by taking her dancing. Or both at the same time.
Sallal Grange is located at 12912 432nd Ave. S.E., North Bend.
