Carnation author appearing at Northwest Bookfest

Jerry Mader, Carnation author and photographer, will appear at the Northwest Bookfest (www.nwbookfest.com) Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 22 and 23, in Kirkland.

On Saturday, Mader, representing Tolt River Press, will be available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Peter Kirk Community Center, 352 Kirkland Ave., selling his latest book, "Saving the Soil: The New American Farmer" and other works.

On Sunday, from 4 to 5:15 p.m. at the Kirkland Library, 308 Kirkland Avenue, he will talk about local farming, lead a panel discussion with Valley farmers Erick Haakensen and Siri Erickson-Brown, then sign copies of his book.
