Grange hosts contra dance Saturday

May 17, 2012 · 9:45 AM

The Sallal Grange, 12912 432 Ave. S.E., North Bend, announces its third contra dance will be Saturday, May 19, 6 to 9 p.m. with an introductory lesson from 6 to 6:30 p.m.

This is a family event, suitable for all ages. Charmaine Slaven will be the caller, and music will be performed by “The Tallboys.”

Square dance is similar to contra dancing. Both feature a caller, and contra dance patterns travel with the music and repeat throughout the song.  There is no need to come with a dance partner but the experience is worth sharing with a friend.

Admission is a suggested donation of $5 to $10 at the door. Soup, pizza, and other concessions will be available.

This event is brought to the community by the members of the Sallal Grange, sharing the rural roots and values that make us who we are. More information will be found at www.sallalgrange.org, or by calling (425) 888-0825.
