Spring into life: Carnation plant sale helps seniors
April 16, 2012 · 9:35 AM
Spring into gardening at the 17th annual Sno-Valley Plant and Garden Sale on Saturday and Sunday, May 5 and 6, at Remlinger Farms, 32610 NE 32nd St., in Carnation.
The sale features thousands of annuals, perennials, shrubs, vegetables, and herbs as well as garden art, bake sale, and cafe.
Plant lovers will be treated to a wide variety of flowering plants in lively “tangerine tango” and “boysenberry”, the hot colors of 2012, along with old favorites and the “new and unusual”. Many of the vegetables are donated by our own Snoqualmie growers who specialize in what’s best for our location. Experts will be on hand to answer gardening questions and assist with color selections.
Local artisans will sell hand-crafted garden art featuring items of glass, metal, cement, wood, and more on Saturday and Sunday. Take a break from plant shopping at the Garden Café which will feature lattes, hot dogs, chili, fruit and beverages. Shoppers can treat their families by taking home some of the delicious items baked by our local senior citizens.
Rain or shine, shoppers will browse in the comfort of enclosed greenhouses. This is the largest plant sale on the Eastside, so don’t miss it.
To get a head start, make reservations to the popular “First Picks” Garden Party on Friday, May 4, from 6-8 p.m. For $25 you will enjoy wine, music, delicious hors d’oeuvres, and first pick on all the items for sale. A silent auction during the party will feature garden-related items. Deadline to reserve is May 1.
Beautiful sun or shade hanging baskets are still available to order. For more plant sale information, to reserve “First Picks Party” tickets or to order a hanging basket, go to www.snovalleysenior.org or call 425-333-4152.
All proceeds from the sale benefit the programs of the Sno-Valley Senior Center.
