North Bend's Grange hosts contra dance Friday

March 15, 2012 · 2:43 PM

The Sallal Grange will host its first contra dance on Friday, March 16, from 8 to 10 p.m., with an introductory lesson from 7:30 to 8 p.m.

This dance is a family event, suitable for all ages.  Pre-teens and seniors alike will enjoy the moving patterns, called by Michael Karcher.  The family band "Hot Cider" will provide the music.

Contra dance is similar to square dance, featuring a caller and dance patterns that travel with the music and repeat throughout the song. Bring a friend or come without a dance partner and find one at the event.

A suggested donation of $5 will be taken at the door and soup, pizza, popcorn, and other concessions will be available.

Contra dances are also scheduled for April 20 and May 20.

This event is brought to the community by the members of the Sallal Grange, WWW.SallalGrange.org.
