Hands-on activities for children at Snoqualmie Safety Fair
Families can watch firefighters in action, squirt a fire hose and learn about safety at the Snoqualmie Fire Department's Safety Fair and Open House, 10 a.m. Saturday, April 24, at the Snoqualmie Fire Station, 37600 S.E. Snoqualmie Parkway.
The event is geared for fun and safety awareness. Free giveaways and refreshments will be offered.
Children can walk through a ‘safety house’, go inside a ‘sprinkler trailer,' see the equipment fire fighters use, visit safety booths to receive their very own safety certificate signed by the fire chief, and take a tour of the fire station.
The whole family can learn about wildland fire dangers, proper electric and gas use, animal rescue and wildlife, hiking safety, crime prevention, traffic safety, preparing for natural or manmade disasters, and other topics.
Visitors can meet members of Snoqualmie Police Department, the US Forestry Service and Smokey Bear, Living with Wildlife, Washington State Animal Rescue, Puget Sound Energy, Mountain Rescue, Swedish Physicians, and Snoqualmie’s emergency response teams.
A full schedule of events is at www.ci.snoqualmie.wa.us under ‘Local Activities.’
This event is also sponsored by the Snoqualmie Fire Department and the Snoqualmie Fire Fighters’ Association.
