North Bend will celebrate its 100th birthday with a party and “Community Quilt Cake,” 1:30 p.m Saturday, August 8, at the Festival at Mount Si.

Citizens are invited to participate by baking a cake and delivering it to the Festival grounds at Si View Park, 400 S.E. Orchard Dr., North Bend, at 8 a.m. that day.

Cake mixes and full instructions will be provided by the Volunteer Coordinator Cynthia Golpe of Cakes by Cynch.

The cake will be the centerpiece of the city’s birthday celebration and will be made up of 154 cakes that will serve 2,200 people. The idea for a centennial cake came from fourth grade student Annika Laufer.

Contact Golpe at (425) 281-5211 or at cgolpe@hotmail.com, no later than Friday, July 31. For more information, visit www.ci.north-bend.wa.us and click on the Centennial page link.
