Ross Loudenback, a North Bend resident and city council member, makes a bid during the Encompass 2008 Autumn Gala, held Saturday evening, Nov. 1, at the Snoqualmie Ridge TPC golf club. The gala drew 292 participants and raised $260,000 — that’s $10,000 more than the goal that Encompass had set. Included in the contributions were $5,000 sponsorships by AAA Systems, Pioneer Van Lines, Nintendo and John Day Homes. The funds will support the organization’s programs to serve children and families. - Courtesy photo

A Veterans Memorial Fundraising Concert is planned for 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at Snoqualmie United Methodist Church, at River Street and Railroad Avenue in Snoqualmie. The show features Chuck Lawrence, a.k.a. “Sarge,” with special guest performers including the Valley’s own renowned opera singer Steve Thoreson, representatives from the Snoqualmie Tribe, and Bob Antone, a Snoqualmie Valley artist and musician. There is a suggested donation of $10 for adults and $5 for children at the door.

Concert-goers are asked to bring a can of food to help support the local food bank, or baked goods for wounded soldiers. Volunteers are also needed to help at this event.
