Pet event fund raiser planned in North Bend

Valley Animal Partners are holding their first annual “Mardi Cause” fund raiser, taking place over two days, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 16 and 17, in North Bend.

Mardi Cause raises funds for Valley Animal Partners’ spay and neuter program, with benefits for area seniors, veterans and families with limited incomes. Pet owners seeking assistance may fill out an eligibility questionnaire and then be sent to a participating veterinarian for care.

At 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, a silent auction is planned at the Moose Family Center in North Bend. Items up for bid include a signed Mariners baseball, gift baskets, pet goodies and gift certificates to many Valley businesses.There will also be a pie auction, with pies donated by Safeway and QFC, as well as community-baked pies and themed gift baskets.

The fun continues on Sunday, Aug. 17, with a dog adoption event and Smooch Your Pooch Kissing Booth from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Renaissance Pet Boutique & Spa, 129 W. North Bend Way. There is also a cat adoption event, 10 to 2 p.m. at Another Hair Place, 113½ Bendigo Blvd., North Bend, and the Wet and Sudsy photo contest and the Wheel of Fido Fortune, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at U Dirty Dog, 301 W. North Bend Way.
