North Bend girl to sing in Seattle Center musical

Fourth grade student Shaye Hodgins of North Bend will perform with the cast of “Urinetown, The Musical,” starting Friday, Aug. 15, at the Center House Theatre at Seattle Center.

When a 23-year-long drought makes water the most valuable resource around, the privilege to pee becomes an expensive habit. The Urine Good Company, owners of all toilets, will cart you off to Urinetown if you can’t pay the price. Urinetown Director and Summer Season Producer Don Fleming describes the musical as meaty, challenging material for young actors, with serious issues, a great dramatic story and a host of over-the-top characters.

Showtimes are 7 p.m. on Aug. 15, 16, 19, 20, 21, 22, and 23, and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16.

Tickets cost $8. Discounts for groups of 10 or more are also available by calling (206) 859-4054. To purchase tickets, call SCT ticket office at (206) 441-3322 or (206) 443-6938 (TTY), or visit

Because this show has a longer run than the other Summer Season productions, two casts will be used, one for each weekend.

Seattle Children’s Theatre celebrates its 34th season in 2008-2009 and performs September through June in the Charlotte Martin and Eve Alvord Theatres at Seattle Center. Since its inception, SCT has gained acclaim as a leading producer of theatre for young people.
