A long-awaited renovation of Si View Park and a restoration of the 75-year-old Si View Community Center is complete, and expected to benefit North Bend for generations to come.
Now, it's time for Si View to celebrate.
A ribbon cutting celebration is 4 p.m. Thursday, June 27, at Si View Park, 400 S.E. Orchard Dr., North Bend.
The North Bend Farmer's Market happens that evening, running from 4 to 8 p.m. at Si View Park. Live music by Cherie Blues begins at 6 p.m.
Repair and park work was funded by the Si View Community Center Preservation and Parks Improvement Bond approved by district voters in 2010, and by financial support from King County Youth Sports Facilities Grant program and Snoqualmie Valley Youth Soccer Association.
Phase 1 of the project included extensive frontage improvements increasing pedestrian and traffic safety along Orchard Drive through on site parking, additional lighting, sidewalks, bike lanes and additional pathways connecting the amenities at Si View Park. Environmentally friendly design techniques were incorporated lessening the impact on the park while expanding the recreational possibilities.
Phase 2 of the project added improved pedestrian circulation with pathways around the park, restroom/concession stand, two youth soccer fields and one youth baseball field with an improved playing surface, a picnic shelter and basketball court, two play areas, increased pedestrian lighting, and needed siding, roofing and seismic repairs to the Community Center.
