Carnation celebrates June water dedication

Community members are invited to celebrate Carnation’s newly completed state-of-the-art wastewater treatment system.
A dedication ceremony will take place on Monday, June 2 from 3 to 6:30 p.m. at the new facility, located at 4301 Larson Ave., Carnation.
Speakers will include King County Executive Ron Sims; Carnation Mayor Mike Flowers; Congressman Dave Reichert; County Councilmember Kathy Lambert; and state representatives Larry Springer and Roger Goodman. Other featured attendees will include leaders from the Snoqualmie Tribe; Carnation City Council members; and employees from the city of Carnation and King County’s Wastewater Treatment Division.
There will be refreshments, live entertainment by Duvall’s Cedarcrest Jazz Band, and a salmon dinner hosted by the Snoqualmie Tribe.
The new treatment facilities include an extensive collection system of pipelines and pumps built by the city of Carnation that will transport wastewater from homes and businesses to a new, technologically advanced treatment plant built by King County.
The treatment system will replace the community’s failing septic systems and support Carnation’s environmental and economic goals by protecting the Snoqualmie River and supporting planned growth within the city limits.
