North Bend is forming the North Bend Parks Foundation, a non-profit corporation to raise money for parks projects.

The city plans to build an outdoor climbing facility in Torguson Park as a “lasting legacy” of North Bend’s 2009 centennial celebration, according to planning documents. The wall be constructed in the shadow of Mount Si, and planners hope to make it mimic the shape of the popular peak.

Because some grants and other parks funding cannot be given directly to the city, North Bend is creating the parks foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, said City Administrator Duncan Wilson.
