See How They Run is set in a small English village, where Penelope Toop, a former actress and now Vicar's wife, receives a surprise visit from an old actor friend, Clive Winton. Clive finds himself the victim of multiple cases of mistaken identity when he innocently disguises himself as a vicar to avoid gossip. They valiantly try to evade a cockney maid, a neighboring busybody and assorted clergymen but things get hilariously complicated when the police show up looking for an escaped spy.
