Flags at half-staff Friday for fallen soldier

June 21, 2012 · 4:51 PM

The flag at Snoqualmie’s American Legion Post 79 will be lowered to half-staff on Friday, June 22, in accordance with Legion traditions and Wash. Gov. Chris Gregoire’s directive.

The governor directed that Washington and United States flags at all state facilities be lowered to half-staff in memory of U. S. Army First Lieutenant Mathew G. Fazzari, 25, of Walla Walla. He died June 6 in Afghanistan when his helicopter crashed after receiving enemy fire.

Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business Friday, June 22.

Residents and Legion members are encouraged to display their private flags at half staff or with a mourning streamer.
