Republican club offers scholarship in essay contest

The Eastside Republican Club will award a $1,000 scholarship to the author of the best essay, as determined by the Club’s judges, submitted on the topic “Why do free markets work? What should the President do to spur economic growth?”.

The scholarship program is open to high school students graduating in 2012, and freshmen and sophomores in an accredited college or university. Students must live in King County, or attend a public, private, or home school located in King County.

Essays must be no more than 500 words in length, and must be submitted to the Club by email no later than Monday, April 16. The winner of the scholarship will be announced at the Club’s monthly dinner meeting in Redmond on Tuesday, May 1.
