North Bend's Sallal Grange holding bazaar, benefit bake sale

December 5, 2011 · 4:23 PM

North Bend's Sallal Grange will hold its first annual Holiday Bazaar and bake sale, Saturday, Dec. 10.

The bake sale benefits Mount Si Food bank, and the Grange seeks bakers and candy makers to help  by donating some holiday treats and delivering them to the Sallal Grange after 9 a.m. on Saturday.

The food bank has been struggling to stay afloat after unexpectedly losing federal funding this summer, having decreased food donations, and facing a growing number of clients.

The Sallal Grange, since its re-charter two years ago, has consistently supported the food bank, collecting non-perishable food and cash donations at its monthly open mic nights and other events.

The bazaar will feature vendors offering various holiday gifts, arts and crafts, including original paintings, local honey, homemade botanicals, and hand-crafted wooden bowls. Complimentary hot cider will warm shoppers as they browse the bake sale and bazaar tables. The kitchen will also be selling hot food and cold drinks, including pizza (thanks to Frankie’s Pizza), hot dogs and chili dogs, chips, cookies, and other snacks.

The grange is located at 12912 432nd Ave., North Bend. To learn more, visit www.SallalGrange.org.

The Sallal Grange is a part of the National Grange, a historic fraternal organization founded in the 1800’s. Recently revitalized, it is dedicated to helping the community, supporting local and sustainable agriculture, local culture and live music.
