Two students from local high schools, Roderick Smith of Cedarcrest and Laura Woodward of Mount Si, are recipients of the annual scholarship program by the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 2878. The association represents firefighters and staff from Eastside Fire & Rescue, Duvall, Fall City and Snoqualmie.

The scholarship is awarded based on the applicant’s community service and volunteer activities. Since its start in 1999, the program has given more than $39,000 to students.
