Household donations still sought for One VOICE family resource fair

Forty-two different organizations and businesses have joined to form One VOICE, a collective resource for families in need.

On Saturday, June 4, One VOICE holds its first Resource Fair to showcase many local services for families, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cascade Covenant

Church, 13225 436th Avenue S.E., in North Bend.

The group is seeking donations of needed items, including bathroom products (such as toilet paper, bar soap and dental items), grocery gift cards or unused gift cards, new and gently used summer clothing, laundry soap, diapers and flip-flops.

Donations are being accepted through Thursday, June 2, 2011, at the Encompass Main Campus, 1407 Boalch Ave. N.W., North Bend.

Many organizations will have a table at the fair, and there will be no admission charge.

“We are excited about the Resource Fair coming up on June 4,” says Stacey Cepeda, Community Activities manager at Encompass, which hosted the initial meetings that resulted in One VOICE. “The success of the Resource Fair will depend in part on donations from the community.”

Items offered at the Resource Fair will be geared toward the warm-weather months of summer and will be available on a first-come/first-served basis.

If the Resource Fair is successful, Cepeda says, One VOICE plans to hold the event annually.
