Car care: Some things change, some things stay the same at Fall City’s Model Garage

Keeping the Valley’s cars on the road has been the way of things at Fall City’s Model Garage since 1923.
Dennis Musga has owned and operated Fall City’s Model Garage, backed up by his manager and a crew of six mechanics, since 1985.
The auto repair business is Musga’s career. Out of high school, he attended trade school at Renton Tech, training to be a mechanic. Musga served an apprenticeship at Ford and worked at the Ford dealership at Eastgate for 20 years. Then, he partnered with his Valley-resident brother-in-law to buy the Model Garage when the owners were retiring. Plenty of customers followed from the dealership, Musga said.
Microsoft Office skills, giveaways at next Valley Chamber lunch and learn
Snoqualmie Valley Chamber of Commerce's May Lunch and Learn is 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 31, at the Snoqualmie Fire Station, 37600 S.E. Snoqualmie Parkway.
At the event, Craig Walker, a longstanding Microsoft partner and owner of Plateau Computers, teaches participants to use Microsoft Office to collaborate, stay organized, and be more productive.There will also be $300 in software giveaways.
Salish earns four diamonds
AAA gave the Salish Lodge and Spa and the Dining Room at Salish Lodge a Four Diamond Rating in 2013.
This is the 23rd consecutive year the Salish has been included on the list, joining 28 other hotels in Washington and northern Idaho to earn the rating.

Feeling good: Valley woman’s clothing, tanning shop aims to make women feel great about themselves
If you can relate to the sign outside—“Nothing to Wear,” the name of Laura Herro’s recently opened clothing boutique in downtown Snoqualmie—then Herro is ready to change that.
“Every woman says, ‘I have nothing to wear,’” says Herro, a recent Valley transplant from the Midwest.
Pointing out dresses, yoga wear, then picking up a black jacket, she explains, “this is something you can wear every day, if you’re a businesswoman or a stay-at-home mom.”
Higher Learning Martial Arts offering self defense, aikido in North Bend
Mark Lynum of North Bend has opened an Aikido martial arts studio, Higher Learning Martial Arts, for adults and children.
Lynum is a black belt with 12 years experience in teaching and practicing Aikido, is a non-violent, non-competitive martial art.
North Bend Agape Chiropractic's Leslie Bedell completes nutrition study
Dr. Leslie Bedell of Agape Chiropractic Healing Center in North Bend was recently awarded a certificate of completion for 14 months of study.
Bedell explored Nutrition Response Testing, a methodology for looking at nutritional deficiencies behind many common health problems. An audience of relatives and friends witnessed her Advanced Clinical Training graduation ceremony earlier this year in Clearwater, Fla.
Bedell said she’s excited to have an additional health improvement tool to assist patients on their road to better health.
Sponsors, ball-playing teams needed for big Carnation Fourth
The Carnation 4th of July Celebration Committee is once again gearing up for the best possible 4th of July velebration.
Sponsorships are being sought to maintain the events, including the fireworks display, fun run, parade, car show, and other needs.
The celebration costs about $34,000 to put on. Last year was one of the biggest and best-attended events ever.
Conversation corner: Update for North Bend Bar and Grill’s 15th year | Slideshow
Upscale, yet homey, is how manager Liz Vollbrecht has always described the North Bend Bar and Grill.
The popular downtown hangout made a subtle update to its chalet feel last month, recently finishing an upgrade that added a few new features to its dining area and lounge.
Extra table and booth space were added to the lounge area, while a nook with seating around a fireplace and widescreen television were put on a blank rear wall. Staff refer to this area as the “conversation corner.” It’s meant to flow customers around the bar, and is one more warm, welcoming place for people to gather.
Tanner Electric Co-op's annual meeting is Saturday at Twin Falls
Tanner Electric Cooperative holds its annual meeting for North Bend and Ames Lake members at 10 a.m. this Saturday, May 4, at Twin Falls Middle School
The annual meeting is an opportunity for coop members to learn about what's happening within the cooperative, meet their neighbors, and possibly win a raffle prize. Refreshments will be served.
Chase Bank to open new Snoqualmie Ridge branch May 7
Chase Bank will open a new branch in Snoqualmie, Tuesday, May 7.
Chase's newest Washington branch, number 211, is located at 35019 S.E. Center St. in Snoqualmie.
The new branch is approximately 3500 square feet and will employ 10 people. The opening will be marked by a celebration and ribbon cutting with the Chamber of Commerce on May 9.
