Pharmacy shifts focus

Beginning Monday, March 5, The Falls Pharmacy in downtown Snoqualmie will become a compounding-only pharmacy. This means pharmacists will only fill prescriptions that they themselves prepare on site in the pharmacy's ever-growing compounding laboratory. Pharmacists Marian Condit and Brock Nyberg mix bulk chemicals and compounds into doctor-specified doses for specialty medications.

The downtown pharmacy will carry a small selection of commercial prescription products commonly prescribed with compounded medications, as well as specialty nutritional supplements. All other pharmaceuticals will be available at the pharmacy's other location: Snoqualmie Village Pharmacy inside the IGA Village Foods grocery store on Center Boulevard in the Snoqualmie Ridge retail area. The pharmacists there will be Terry Clinch, Brad Mott, Condit and Brock and Shanna Nyberg. The Village Pharmacy does not have the facilities to create compounded medicines.

Compounding had always been the ultimate goal for the Falls Pharmacy since it opened nine years ago, Condit said. With the opening of the Village Pharmacy a year ago, the timing was right to make the switch, she said. The downtown location can focus on compounding, while the Snoqualmie Ridge location can focus on other prescription medicines.
